Roman Nose Cliff Walking

Shannon and I played hooky this Friday and went into the mountains to climb Roman Nose, a geological feature of the Selkirk Mountains. We’d been wanting a “moms’ day off” adventure and we had it!!! The hike into the lakes was easy and beautiful – subalpine larch starting to turn a golden hue, huckleberrys just post-prime flaming red at the leaf, the sky wide-open blue…

From the lakes, we scrambled up granite rock to the saddle and then ascended the peak along the ridgeline. Our hearts were in our throats most of the way, but the goal of reaching the top kept us going. Once atop the peak, we had a gorgeous 360 degree view of the Selkirks – simply outstanding! We met a few men on top who convinced us to try a new route down, which sounded good at the time, yet ended up sending us right over a cliff! It was harrowing and not recommended…but we are here to tell the tale…so our instincts helped guide us down.

The rest of the weekend was spent up at Priest Lake with Buddy and Bonnie and a nice, much more tame excursion on the Navigation Trail along the lake…a much welcome option.

L'Shana Tova!

Many happy wonderful blessings to all for the New Year! We are so grateful for everything which surrounds us -- our freedoms, our relationships, our health and our imagination. We send peace and love to you all!

Labor Day Enjoyment

We had the pleasure of visitors, Vic & Jess, for the Labor Day weekend. We filled our time taking adventures up to Lake Estelle, boating on the lake with Timmy, making delicious meals, hablando en espanol con Henry and introducing Vic and Jess to our dear friends here (an evening that lasted well into the early hours of the next morning!)
It was a wonderful, wonderful weekend!
